Legal
Aid Board Clinical Negligence Franchise.
"I
have recently been the victim of a medical accident and believe
that I am eligible for legal aid, but when I went to my
solicitor they advised me that they couldn't make an application
for legal aid as they were no longer franchised. What does this
mean and what should I do?"
As
of August last year, firms who have not been awarded the Legal
Aid Board Clinical Negligence Franchise are no longer able to
pursue clinical negligence claims with the benefit of legal aid.
This has developed because cases for injury caused by healthcare
treatment are often complex, and it is vital that claimants
receive a quality assured service in this specialist area of
law.
All firms who have received this franchise have been
identified and checked by the Legal Aid Board to make sure that
they give a quality service.
