Surgical Negligence Claims

Any surgery, however minor, has its dangers. However, many types of surgical procedures have a very low risk of complications. So, when a serious injury occurs from this type of surgery, there is a higher likelihood of negligence.

Some of the most common types of surgical negligence include:

  • Keyhole surgery (laparoscopic), such as gallbladder operations involving injuries to the bile duct

  • Cervical lymph node biopsies involving injuries to the accessory nerve

  • Anaesthetic errors

  • Orthopaedic (bone and joint) surgery

  • Cosmetic surgery

  • Breast reduction surgery

  • Laser surgery

Most cases of surgical negligence are as a result of poor post-operative care, including a failure to diagnose a complication or problem from the surgery itself.

All our solicitors on our legal panel have good experience in dealing with claims where a patient has died, or suffered an injury as a result of surgical negligence.
